THE Watering Hole, in St Nicholas Road, Barry, has fallen victim to a thief who has removed the ‘water’ from its name leaving the other letters behind.
The culprit used a ladder to take the plywood sign when the business was closed
The bar opened in June this year.
Owner of The Watering Hole, Sam Lewis said: “I’d just like to say how much of a disappointment it is.
“This is a premeditated attack as the culprit brought tools and ladder.
“It has led to the bar being shut all week but will be open for Friday and Saturday’s Ty Hafan fundraising event.
“It’s costing a significant cost to repair.
“From CCTV it looks like a large man in his 50s.
“I think it was just the ‘water’ to try and humiliate the bar as well leaving expensive costs by leaving what could be seen as an indecent humiliating phase - ‘the ring hole.’
South Wales Police confirmed it had received a report of damage to The Watering Hole, some time from 1.30am to 7.10pm on Sunday, November 30.
Anyone with information is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 and quote reference 1900443239.
