THE BBC has shared a teaser clip of the BBC Gavin and Stacey Christmas special ahead of its much-waited broadcast on Christmas Day.

The award-winning Barry-based sitcom is returning to the screen for a one-off episode after the series finished in 2010.

The show co-written and starring Late Late Show host, James Corden and Stella writer and actor Ruth Jones, features the romance and marriage between couple Gavin Shipman and Stacey West.

When the series ended, Gavin (Mathew Horne) and Stacey (Joanna Page) were expecting a baby and Nessa and Smithy (Corden and Jones) got together.

The trailer shows Stacey's uncle, Bryn rushing round a kitchen trying to organise it while Wizzard's hit track, I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday, is playing at his Barry home.

But he falls behind schedule, drops a bowl of food on the floor, and tells Stacey there will be a slight delay.

Filming took place in Barry and Barry Island in July this year – attracting hundreds of onlookers, keen to catch a glimpse of the actors, as word got around.
