PEOPLE travelling on Remembrance Sunday are reminded to check before leaving if using Cardiff Bus.

The operator is alerting travellers to road closures and route diversions as a result of Remembrance Sunday services this weekend.

At 11am Cardiff Bus will also see its services pull over where safe to do so, in a bid to observe the traditional two-minute silence honouring the fallen.

Traffic around the Cenotaph in Barry may be held for a short time around 11am, and in Penarth at approximately 2pm, affecting Barry and Penarth services 92, 94, 95, 96A and 100.

Elsewhere, road closures for the Radyr Remembrance Sunday service will affect service 63. Service 63 will not serve Radyr, Pentyrch or Creigiau in either direction and will start and end its journeys at Danescourt Way. The first bus to serve the whole route will be the 12:55pm from the city centre.

In addition to this, service 63 may be held near Pentyrch memorial for a short time at about 3pm.

There will also be changes to Whitchurch services 21, 23, 24 and 25 as Penlline Road will be closed between 10:30am and noon. During this time buses will divert along Church Road, Heol Don and Velindre Road in both directions.

Service 30 will also be affected between Old St Mellons and Rumney with buses diverting via Cypress Drive, Greenway Road and New Road in both directions between 11:30am and 12:40pm due to the part closure of Newport Road.

Service 45 will divert in Rumney via Wentloog Road and New Road for approximately 30 minutes from 10:45am due to a Remembrance service on Wentloog Road.

Gareth Stevens, operations and commercial director of Cardiff Bus, said: “This Remembrance Day we once again honour the courageous men and women who fought for our country.

“It is our privilege to play a part in supporting them during Remembrance Sunday by observing a two-minute silence where possible. We hope our customers will join us and pause to remember and honour those who have been lost in action.”

“We’d like to remind anyone with queries about travel to visit our website www.cardiffbus.com or our Twitter and Facebook pages for up to date travel information.”
