BARRY Rotary Club collected bags of plastic milk bottle tops from schools and volunteers in support of the Purple4Polio Day on Friday, October 25 with a display in Barry Library on Thursday, October 24.
Vale AM Jane Hutt congratulated the Barry Rotary Club for their raising funds to fight polio, when she visited their stand at Barry Library where they were joined by Valeplus and Awesome Wales displaying all their plastic-free products.
Purple4Polio initiative is one launched by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland to raise funds and awareness for efforts to eradicate polio across the world and promote the work of the global campaign End Polio Now.
When a child receives their life saving polio drops on mass polio immunisation days in many countries their little finger is painted with a purple dye so it is clear they have received their life-saving vaccine.
