A COUNCILLOR has raised more than £500 after Braving the Shave for Macmillan Cancer.
Vale and Barry Castleland councillor, Millie Collins had her hair cut off, in memory of family and friends who have dealt with cancer, to raise funds and awareness.
The 37-year-old had her head totally shorn at her work’s coffee morning on Friday, September 27.
Cllr Collins said: “The Brave The Shave was quite successful as far as I can tell.
“I was extremely nervous Friday and felt physically ill through nerves, but once I sat in the chair and it started, the nerves disappeared.
“A few of my friends in work helped with the shave and had lots of fun!
“I have to admit, I was a little shocked when I saw the end result, but I'm slowly getting used to it.
She added: “The support has been wonderful, so many people donated.
“I can't believe that I raised so much in just a month - all thanks to peoples’ generosity.
“Huge, huge thanks to them all.
“Doing this meant so much to me before, but meant even more after I found out my friend and colleague had passed away a week before the shave.
“My final total now is £531.”
