A BANK branch has re-opened to the public after a lead theft on its roof led to a ceiling collapse and rainwater damaging electrics.
The theft was discovered by staff when rainwater entered the Barclays bank building, in Holton Road, Barry, during heavy downpours on Thursday, August 29.
Customers were re-directed to branches in Penarth and Cardiff.
A Barclays bank spokesman said: “We believe lead has been taken from the branch roof.
“The branch closed on August 29 and reopened this week on Monday, September 9 after repair work had been undertaken to repair water and electrical damage.”
A South Wales Police spokeswoman said: “The theft of lead flashing from the roof of Barclays Bank, Holton Road, Barry, was reported to South Wales Police on August 19.
“Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting reference 1900305271 or alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
