FROM the Archive this week features a photograph of The Windsor Hotel, in Holton Road, Barry.
There is an impressive metal canopy on the Windsor Hotel on the right in this early photograph of Holton Road.
On Tuesday, December 22 1896 the Windsor Hotel was the first private building in Barry to switch on electric lights.
The results described as satisfactory and a novelty in the local papers must have attracted some new customers over the 1896 festive period.
The hotel building was recently acquired by Newydd Housing Association and is likely to experience another transformation, as affordable housing, in the future.
