WHITMORE High School, Barry, was delighted to announce its first set of GCSE results, with the all-boys Year 11 cohort securing more than 69 per cent of 5 A*to C grades at GCSE or equivalent and more than 18 pupils attaining at least 5 A*-A grades.

Of particular note were Evan Morgan with 9 A*, 3 A; Luke Sargent 3 A*, 7 A; Reuben Hopkin 5 A*, 5A; Ellis Young 4 A*, 5A; Kieran Hartwell 3 A*, 6 A; Jared Clark 2 A*, 6 A; Joe Doughty 1 A*, 6A; Ben Harris 3 A*, 5A; George Mitchem 2A*, 4A, 6B; and Sean Fairman - 3A*, 4A, 5B.

Whitmore High School head teacher, Andrew Thompson said: “The results this year were very pleasing, and a real reflection of the hard work from all in our school community – students, staff and governors.

“A big factor in our success is the constant support of parents, who always insist on high standards for our pupils and a real commitment to their education.

“The school now looks forward to the year ahead and further improvements to celebrate.

“The vast majority of our students have now secured the grades they need to progress to our sixth form or other choices, which ensures we can all move forward together as a school community.”
