An early morning police chase has led to the arrest of two men.

Around eight police cars pursued a vehicle through the centre of Blackburn at approximately 8.30am on Sunday.

A spokesperson for the police said: "The vehicle had been spotted driving erratically in the Mill Hill area earlier in the morning."

Officers gave chase and the pursuit ended when the car was finally stopped at the junction of East Park Road and Preston New Road.

Detective Inspector Simon Lynch said: "We have arrested and detained the male driver and the male passenger of the vehicle.

"The origins of the vehicle are unclear and an investigation is underway to establish those details."

A police presence remained in situ at East Park Road until around 1pm on Sunday.

The two men were arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
