A MAN has been jailed after breaking into cars in Sully.
Stephen Snooks, 34, of Barry, was charged with two counts of theft from a motor vehicle, four counts of attempted theft from a motor vehicle and one count of possession of a controlled drug of class B – cannabis.
The defendant was spotted by a resident acting suspiciously around parked vehicles in Hayes Point, Sully, around 9am on Saturday, June 29.
Police were called after a resident spotted Snooks breaking into a Ford Fiesta.
Officers spotted the suspect walking on Hayes Road in possession of a carrier bag and a black pouch-type bag.
Inside the bags, officers located two car charging cables, two sat navs, women’s earrings, cash, a spanner and some cannabis.
The property belonged to two people parked at Hayes Point.
Four other vehicles had also been damaged.
Snooks admitted to damaging and stealing from vehicles.
He pleaded guilty to all charges.
He appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 1, and was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment.
Vale of Glamorgan inspector, Andy Rice said: “Thanks to the vigilance of a resident and a staff member at the Hayes Point, officers were able to quickly locate Snooks and arrest him as he was leaving the scene.
“Snooks was arrested, charged and jailed within three days.”
