South Wales Police officers are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery in Barry to come forward.

Detectives are investigating an attempted robbery involving a 72-year-old victim which took place near to Gladstone Bridge on Sunday, June 23.

The man was walking along a footpath near to the bridge when he was approached by two men demanding money.

One of the men punched the victim to the face causing minor injuries.

No money was handed over.

DS Phil Marchant, of Barry CID, said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault which took place between 12am and 12.30am, to please come forward.
