A TELEVISION spotlight turn on Barry on Friday, June 21.

The Island and the surrounding area will be the subject of a full episode of S4C travel series, Codi Pac, which looks at hidden gems and places of interest in towns across Wales through the eyes of a tourist.

Host Geraint Hardy will learn the rich history of Barry during Roman, Norman, and the industrial ages, by speaking to town resident, Alcwyn Evans, in The Knap.

He then ventures towards Cold Knap Beach and onto Porthkerry Park for a stroll through the woods and to see the famous viaduct.

Mr Hardy and the crew also visit the Small Space Theatre, the world’s smallest magic theatre, to witness a magic show, before heading to the Pleasure Beach and the War Museum.

Featuring heavily throughout the episode are Barry’s popular restaurants, pubs, hotels and independent high street shops.

The programme also ventures out from the town to visit Gileston to visit a traditional Glamorgan cottage.

Codi Pac will be shown at 8.25pm on Friday, on S4C, with English subtitles available.

The episode will also be available to watch on demand at S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer.
