A FIRE at Sully Island has been recorded as “deliberate”.

Firefighters from Barry were called to Beach Road, Swanbridge, at 2.45pm on Saturday, May 4.

Crew tackled the fire, which destroyed 100m square of grassland, using beaters and stood down at 3.30pm before high tide.

A South Wales Police spokeswoman confirmed officers had received a report of a fire on Sully Island.
