PUPILS at Barry primary schools didn’t let the fact that St David’s Day fell on their half-term break stop them and instead proved that every day was meant for celebrating a patron saint.

Youngsters at Jenner Park, Colcot and Oak Field Primary Schools abandoned their school uniforms in favour of clothes honouring their national saint – David – on Friday, March 8.

Oak Field pupils created iconic models of Welsh landmarks to bring in and show in school while the other schools took part in special assemblies and created some literary art.

Jenner Park pupil Ryda Cazarez was crowned this year’s Bard and awarded a trophy in which she could take home.
