POLICE in Barry executed a series of early morning warrants at three addresses in the town on Thursday, February 28.

The intelligence led operation resulted in a 51-year-old woman being arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug and a 42-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class C drug.

Both women are from the Court area of Barry.

They are currently being held at Queen’s Road police station, in Bridgend.

Sergeant Julie Madoc-Smart, of Barry police station said: “This operation targeted drug dealers and those supplying drugs in our communities.

“We take a hard approach to drugs related offences and this operation sends out a clear deterrent message to criminals that we will find you and arrest you.

“The main purpose of this operation was to target alleged offenders and through planned police activity identify and arrest those involved in the supply of drugs.

“Our communities do not want drugs within them and the possession and supply of drugs is a criminal offence and one that we take seriously.

“We will continue to take action against those that offend.

Sergeant Madoc-Smart added: “We rely on intelligence from residents to tackle drug supply in our communities and I urge local residents to report any suspicious activity to us.”
