A HOUSING associations free support service is benefitting Vale residents

Residents over 55 are being assisted by Hafod’s Croeso Pawb drop-in service which offers free housing-related advice and support.

Based at Golau Caredig Extra Care Scheme, in Broad Street, in Barry, Croeso Pawb provides help with a range of topics including housing support to prevent or address homelessness, benefit and money advice, children and family matters, health and well-being and more.

One person has received support since October as she suddenly went from full time employment to earning £37 a week.

Croeso Pawb support workers initially met with her to give her advice about her personal finances and mental health.

During the session, she broke down in tears saying: “It’s not only a relief to talk to someone about my worries but to realise that you could help.”

She continued to receive support over the past few months and said how the service has made a difference to her life.

She said: “I was getting different letters in the post all the time and it was so stressful.

“I had a lot to deal with on my own and was getting nowhere.

“I was getting myself into such a state.

“Hafod has been amazing and I don’t know where I would be without them.”

Through Hafod’s partnership with the Vale council, the Croeso Pawb drop-in service is available to anyone over 55 who lives in the Vale whether they own their own home, if they’re homeless, or if they need support to manage their tenancy.

Croeso Pawb drop-in sessions take place at Golau Caredig every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 12pm .

Alternative locations are available or you can request a visit.
