A FORMER chairman of the Welsh Joint Education committee and long-standing Vale of Glamorgan and Barry Town Council councillor has been charged with indecent assault.
South Wales Police have confirmed that Cllr Anthony Hampton, of Barry, was today charged with “a number of non-recent sexual offences”.
The 71-year-old, who represents Barry’s Iltyd ward as a Tory councillor, was arrested in January this year and was today charged with 10 counts of indecent assault.
The charges relate to two people, who were children at the time of the alleged offences.
He will appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on January 15.
