A YEAR 13 pupil of Barry Comprehensive School will be heading to Windsor this weekend for a very important event.

Unlike the thousands of well-wishers hoping just to catch a glimpse of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Rhys Horton has an invitation to be part of the Royal Wedding Day.

Rhys earned his invitation in recognition of his commitment to sustaining high academic standards at school and for his work with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Rhys will be wearing his Air Force Cadets Number 1 dress uniform for the celebration at Windsor Castle on Saturday.

Gerard McNamara, headteacher, said that many staff and pupils are jealous of Rhys’ invite

He said: “Rhys has worked tremendously hard in school and dedicated numerous weekends supporting and volunteering at various events representing the Royal Air Force Cadets.

"I’m sure he will bring back great photographs from the wedding."

Rhys will be taking his father as his plus one.
