THIS week our From the archive section features a photograph of the Buyers and Sellers C.W.S Cardiff Depot staff outing to the annual cricket match in Porthkerry Park, Barry, in 1909.
It has been sent in by Professor Tony Curtis who has owned the photograph for some years.
He points out the poignancy of that innocent day and the probability that many of those men would have died in the World War which broke out in 1914.
He has just donated the original to the National Museum in St Fagans.
Professor Curtis is currently researching his family and the Great War and his touring talk will come to Barry Art Central, King Square, in November this year.
The Barry & District News would like to thank Professor Tony Curtis for the photograph and information.
If you have an old Barry photograph you would like to see included, with information about what it depicts, email sha@barryanddistrictnews.co.uk
