THE following cases have been heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates' Court, sitting in Cardiff.

Brandon Harrison, aged 18, of Usk Way, Barry, pleaded guilty to criminal damage and to carrying a bladed item, namely a meat cleaver, in a public place. He was committed to a young offender institution for six months and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Rachel Heywood, aged 36, of Ewenny Close, Barry, pleaded guilty to causing harassment through disorderly or abusive behaviour. She was fined £75 and was ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.

Shae Mialkowski, aged 22, of Jewel Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching the terms of a restraining order. He was sentenced to 28 days in prison and was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

David Simmonds, aged 42, of Barry Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to four counts of theft, possession of a class B drug, namely cannabis, and failing to surrender to police custody. He was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison and was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Keith Simpson, aged 49, of Holton Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour towards two police officers and to being drunk and disorderly. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison and was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge and £100 in court costs.

James Crane, aged 27, of Beatrice Road, Barry, admitted to breaching the terms of a community order for a suspended sentence. He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for 24 months, and was ordered to carry out an additional 50 hours unpaid work, as well as being ordered to pay court costs of £60.

Neil Haggard, aged 36, of Herbert Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching the terms of a restraining order. He was fined £400 and ordered to pay a £40 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.

Renee Vrettos, aged 41, of Hillary Rise, Barry, pleaded guilty to theft for stealing an iPhone. She was fined £80 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, an £85 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
