Mr Hopkins has been with Vic Hopkins & Son Family Butchers for more than 34 years, and has previously served as the High Street traders' association chairman.

Mr Hopkins said: “Exciting times are ahead. There are lots of new homes being built in and around Barry and we’re here to let those residents know what a wonderful selection of shops and businesses High Street has to offer.”

The first event of 2018 is the legendary Easter Bonnet Parade, starting outside The Grind House – inside if it’s raining – at 11am on Saturday, March 31.

It will parade through High Street and Island Road.

Every entry will receive an Easter egg.

There will also be a find the Easter Bunny competition throughout High Street in the week leading up to Easter, with more Easter eggs to be won.
