THE following cases have been heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Cardiff:

Dean Watkins, 33, of Greenwood Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to a car, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, damaging a vehicle taken without permission and assault by beating. He was given a restraining order and banned from driving for 12 months, as well as being ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge.

Daniel Sutclife, 19, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to a door, assault by beating and possession of a class B drug, namely cannabis. He was fined £80 and given a restraining order, as well as being ordered to pay £200 in court costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Gareth Romans, 41, of Ravenshoe Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to possession of a class B drug, namely spice. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Hannah Hyde, 31, of Parkland Walk, Barry, pleaded guilty to possession of a class C drug, namely Valium, seven counts of theft and two counts of assault by beating. She was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months and was ordered to pay £100.79 compensation and a £100 victim surcharge.

Jason Viscount, 20, of North Walk, Barry, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was given a restraining order and sentenced to 16 weeks in a young offender institution, and was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £200 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

John Brockway, 30, of Winston Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer in the execution of their duty. He was fined £80 and was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Jon Hudson, 40, of Powis View, Barry, pleaded guilty to theft for stealing goods from Tesco and possession of a class C drug, namely valium. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Anthony McCarthy, 34, of Montgomery Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was fined £250 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Ryan O’Connor, 26, of Pendoylan Close, Barry, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident. He was banned from driving for four months and fined £200, as well as being ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge
