FORMER Dragon’s Den hopeful and Hot Diggidy Dog chilli sauce entrepreneur Simon Llewellyn is promising a Sausage Revolution when he opens his first eaterie in Barry.

The 46-year-old father-of-one, who pitched his hot sauce business to the Dragons in 2015, is preparing to set up shop in a newly-built unit on the Atlantic Way trading estate and he hopes it will be up and running to meet pre-Christmas demand.

The takeaway-restaurant-style joint, will offer quality, sausage-based food.

A roast dinner sausage is planned for diners to enjoy a Christmas treat.

The former submariner will offer food ranging from £0.89 to £3.20.

The takeaway-restaurant boasts a Cuban theme – despite Mr Llewellyn having never visited the central American country.

Mr Llewellyn said he hoped that, if successful in its first Barry base, the Sausage Revolution could be franchised elsewhere.

The food outlet is intended as a foodie destination while also catering for a family friendly crowd.

Mr Llewellyn said: “After Dragon’s Den I didn’t get any investment, but I was asked by one of Peter Jones’ investments – Alf Turner butchers – to make a hot sauce which could be used in a Scotch Egg – the Dragon Egg.

The hot and spicy Diablo chilli sauce he used, a complex tomato-based dipping sauce, features on the Sausage Revolution menu alongside another unique food product – the Chuggett – a cross between a chicken nugget and a sausage.

The menu will also cater for vegetarian and coeliacs.

Mr Llewellyn said: “The sausages will be quality tasting, gluten-free and suitable for celiacs. Zeb’s (his son) grandmother is a coeliac and I found her food to be so bland.”

The outlet will have seating for up to 25 people.

He said: “I hope Barry gets behind it. It’s going to be the flagship store. It started here in Barry. Do you want a Maccy-Ds or do you want a Sausage Revolution?”
