COMMONWEALTH light heavyweight champion boxer Nicky Piper will switch on St Athan’s Christmas lights on Sunday, December 3.

The lights go on at 5pm following an afternoon of entertainment and activities.

Stage entertainment starts at 3pm with the St Athan Youth Band and follows on with Harri Roberts and Seren-Fflyr Hamilton.

Then, it’s the turn of Total CAOS and Kieran Cox before the St Athan Primary school choir leads onto the magical switch-on.

St Athan scouts will escort all the dignitaries and Mr Piper to the stage as part of their lantern parade.

There’ll be free fairground rides and the east end of Llantwit Road and free face painting at the Three Horseshoes.

St Tathan Church will be open all afternoon with mulled wine and mince pies and Christmas crafts for the children before the now traditional Christingle Service in the church at 5.15pm.

Santa has booked his parking slot and is inviting all to come along to his grotto for a small gift and of course the necessary selfie.

The day rounds off at the Three Horseshoes where the local favourite and international singing sensation Simon will lead the entertainment until the grand prize draw at 7pm.

All are welcome but a section of Llantwit Road will be closed between 12pm and 7pm.
