MORE than a thousand people descended on Barry to pay tribute to service people past and present on Remembrance Day

Residents of all generations lined the annual parade route from King Square, along Holton Road, to witness former and current service people, officials, and representatives from youth organisations laying wreaths, prior to a service in the Memorial Hall.

A wreath-laying ceremony took place at the Memorial to the Merchant Seamen of Barry, outside the Civic Offices, Holton Road, before the procession to the Cenotaph, outside the Barry Memorial Hall, on Sunday, November 12.

The Royal British Legion Barry branch, Vale MP Alun Cairns, Vale AM Jane Hutt, Barry Town Council mayor, Cllr Nic Hodges, Vale mayor, Cllr Janice Charles, the public, and representatives from partner and youth organisations joined in with laying floral tributes.

Father Ben Andrews officiated at the ceremony which saw the observation of the nationwide two- minute silence at 11am.
