BELLE Vue park in Newport was packed out today, Sunday, as dog lovers turned up to enjoy a day of fun-filled events.
Bark in the Parc – organised by St David’s Hospice Care, and sponsored by Newport Dog Grooming – saw dog owners bring their pooches along to get involved in games, music and food and drink.
There were a variety of stalls, including information stalls from vets and dog trainers, music from Newport City Radio and others with toys and treats.
A sponsored walk was also held around the park to raise money for St David’s.
As the event coincided with Remembrance Sunday, there was a small ceremony and silence held in the park and visitors were also able to buy hand-knitted poppies for themselves and their hounds.
Organiser Gemma Sandhu said the event was “brilliant”.
“I’m over the moon,” she said. “I was up all night worrying about it but I didn’t need to. It was amazing.
“Belle Vue Park is a place so many people come with their dogs so we thought this would be a way to bring them together with their four-legged friends.”
Action Petz, based in the Queensway Meadows Industrial Estate, also supported the event.
