SILVER Stars Gymnastics Club was amongst the medals again at the recent National Gymspire competition organised by Welsh Gymnastics. The competition took place on October 29 at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre and includes vault, trampet and floor routines.

Eight girls and boys from Silver Stars took part in the different age groups representing the south central area, an area spanning the Vale of Glamorgan and Valleys.

Overall in the girls 11 to 12 age group level two Evelyn Smith finished in first place with Georgia Vaughan in second place.

The south central mixed team with Maddie Wing finished in joint first place.

In the girls 9 to 10 age group level two, the winner was Charlotte Palmer and in the boys section Ioan Greenhough finished second.

The south central boy’s team finished in third position but the girl’s including Annie Scott-Lawson finished in first position.

Silver Stars has recently benefitted from training in the larger hall at Penarth Leisure Centre with some smaller classes still held at Fairfield Primary School. The club has recently been successful in securing a Community Chest Grant which has enabled the purchase of new equipment and is helping to fund the training of coaches and young leaders for gymnastics in the future.
