THOUSANDS of people heralded the Christmas season by witnessing the annual lights switch-on in High Street, Barry, on Friday, November 25.
A large crowd saw Father Christmas and Vale AM Jane Hutt pull the lever to trigger the street display while also enjoying the extended shop opening times and street stalls.
Also performing on the Bro Radio stage were choirs from Romilly Primary School, Ysgol St Baruc, and High Street Primary.
Barry Male Voice Choir, Pukka’s dance group, E motion, Superstars In The Making, and the Bliss Dancers also performed.
Homemade Wales owner, Fay Blakeley said residents had appreciated the opportunity to shop out of the usual hours.
She said: “We've had some great feedback from members of the public.”
The event, organised by the High Street Traders association, was funded by Barry Town Council with a grant also from the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
