ALL Saints Church has been awarded more than £100k for its roof appeal.
The Barry church previously launched an ambitious project on Sunday, September 4 to raise a staggering £231,302 for a much-needed new roof.
In August the Heritage Lottery Fund received a funding application from All Saints Church and confirmed on Wednesday, September 21 that it would award the church an eye-watering £100,400.
The received money now means that the church, which has one of Barry town's largest congregations, is nearing its half-way mark for a new roof.
Paul Donovan, chairman of the roof restoration project, said: "This is amazing news and I would like to offer my thanks to all those involved in this process for their hard work and persistence and submitting such a robust application".
Father Kevin Lake added: "This is such a blessing and it means that we are well on our way to raising the £231,000 required to replace the roof.
"Many parishioners and the community have sponsored a slate and we are continuing to develop our fundraising activities involving the community which has already raised at least a further £10,250.
"We know we still have a long way to go but this grant will really help us to meet our target sooner than expected."
The church has arranged another fundraising event for Thursday, October 6 at 7.30pm, which will include music and monologues.
