VALE AM Jane Hutt met with Tesco bosses at the Senedd to explore an opportunity to save a Barry post office from closure.
Ms Hutt met Simon Petar and Matthew Hunt on Thursday, December 11, to progress proposals to take on threatened Highlight Park Post Office.
Vale MP Alun Cairns had previously written to Tesco chief executive Dave Lewis and discussed with bosses possible measures to save the branch, currently housed in the Lloyds Pharmacy next to the Barry Tesco store, ahead of the closure date of December 31 this year.
Jane Hutt said: “I had a very constructive meeting with Tesco chiefs at the National Assembly and was able to stress the strong public feeling surrounding the loss of the post office and the opportunity for Tesco to take on this vital service. I am following up with Tesco’s chief executive and I hope a positive outcome can be achieved.”
