RNLI lifeboat volunteer crew got their first shouts of the year when they responded to two incidents in one day.
The Barry Dock team rallied in the early hours of Saturday morning after they were summoned to help a person found on the coast line.
South Wales Police were able to help the person and the lifeboat crew returned to dry land just before 1am.
Crew were called out later the same day to investigate reports of a small boat adrift off Nell's Point.
Crew found the empty boat, which had no signs of occupancy and brought it back to the harbour.
Education and fundraising volunteers have also resumed their work for the new year and new volunteers for both the education and fundraising teams are needed.
Volunteering with these teams gives an opportunity to help save lives at sea without having to risk your own.
