REV Brian Taylor is appealing to all former members of St Paul's Church Choir in the early 1980s to join him for a reunion at the Christingle Service at St Paul's on Sunday, December 22.
At that time Brian Taylor, as a 19-year-old, became organist and choir master at St Paul's before becoming ordained as an Anglican Priest. Now Brian has retired from full-time ministry and has returned to assist in the churches of St Paul's and Merthyr Dyfan.
Brian said: "It would be wonderful to meet up with my friends from 30 years ago and more, and already Andrea Binding (formerly Andrea White) is coming all the way from Qatar, and, from the Barry area, we will be welcoming Julie Clemo (formerly Julie Smith), Lynda Whitty, Sharon Sylvester and Terry Sylvester."
Christingle is a lovely service particularly for children when they all receive a Christingle – an orange with a candle representing Christ as the light of the world. The service begins at 4pm and lasts for less than one hour, and for many it provides a lovely opportunity to prepare for the coming of Christmas.
St Paul's Church, on St Paul's Avenue, was the first Anglican Church built for the new town of Barry in 1892. Anyone requiring further information is welcome to telephone Terry Sylvester on 01446 745444.
