A GROUNDBREAKING documentary marking 100 years since World War I will be broadcast simultaneously across the UK.

They Shall Not Grow Old, by Lord of the Rings director, Peter Jackson, will be shown in 2D and 3D in multiple cinemas, including Cineworld in Spytty Retail Park, on October 16.

This will include a live broadcast from the film’s World Premiere, at the BFI London Film Festival, showing arrivals to the red carpet and a live Q&A between Peter Jackson and film critic Mark Kermode.

They Shall Not Grow Old is co-commissioned by the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary, 14-18 NOW, and by Imperial War Museums.

The documentary has been made excluding with original footage from the museums’ film archive and audio from BBC archives.

The footage has been colourised, converted to 3D, and transformed with modern production techniques bringing WWI to life in a detailed way never seen before.
