AN INFORMATION day is being held for people aged 50 and over, ahead of age positivity week.

Newport City Council are hosting this event, for its twentieth year, at Newport Leisure Centre on September 29.

The information day, between 10am and 3pm, is being held in association with the Newport 50 Plus Forum and generally attracts hundreds of visitors.

More than 100 stalls will be on display, offering information on health, leisure, fitness, hobbies, finances, sensory loss and more.

It will also be an opportunity for older people to seek legal and financial advice, and learn about the housing support on offer.

The day will feature a performance by Newport Male Voice Choir, ahead of the official opening by Newport's Mayor, Cllr Malcolm Linton.

Plus, Helena Herklot, who became Older Person's Commissioner for Wales in June, will attend.

Entry is free, with refreshments on offer, and prizes up for grabs in a raffle.

Newport Leisure Centre has a small car park and is short walking distance from Kingsway car park, Friars Walk car park, and Newport's central bus station.
