A POPULAR funk and soul DJ will perform at a castle next week.

DJ Craig Charles will perform with his funk and soul club at Chepstow Castle on August 31, supported by Big Mac's Wholly Soul Band.

For 10 years, the DJ has presented a Saturday night show, The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show, between 6pm and 9pm on BBC Radio 6.

Previously, DJ Craig Charles has said: “When I was asked to do a radio show I only had one condition, it has to be a funk & soul show otherwise I wasn’t interested.”

The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show has featured many guests over the years, including Gil-Scott Heron, James Brown, Roy Ayers, Cymande, Marlena Shaw, Paul Weller, Primal Scream, Terry Callier, Candi Staton, and Marva Whitney.

The performance at Chepstow Castle will kick off at 7.30pm, with the doors opening at 6.30pm, and the festivities ending around 11pm.

This is an outdoor event and those wishing to sit can bring their own foldable chairs.

No dogs are allowed on site, and food and drink will not be permitted, although there will be food and a bar at the venue.

Any guests under 16 will require adult supervision.

Tickets are £22.75 and can be purchased here or by calling 01291 627122.
