SAINTS, the newly established St Athan Parks Trust, will run a family fun day on Friday, August 5, from 3pm to 7pm.

There will a range of activities including face painting, family games, crafts, football and sports. Many activities are free of charge for all to enjoy.

The Welsh Hawking Centre will also be showcasing their birds. Refreshments, cakes, ice creams and burgers will also be on sale.

A successful volunteer training day took place on Tuesday, July 19, with the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Play Development and Sport Development teams, where volunteers got to grips with the fun day’s different activities and met over lunch.

The trust has been set up to help raise funds for Parks in St Athan, with the play area at Lougher Place being a particular priority for the group, having had limited investment in recent years.

Other activities have been organised for the summer, as a result of feedback from the St Athan Community Mapping project, identifying a priority to organise more activities for children to take part in.

The Go Global Holiday Club for primary aged children at the Gathering Place runs from Monday, August 1 to Wednesday, August 3, from 10am to noon. There will be lots of games, crafts, songs, bible stories and puppets.

The cost is £2 per child. For more information and to book a place, contact Deacon Sam on 01446 406262, or deaconsam@live.co.uk.

Free Play Sessions at St Athan Community Centre, Glyndwr Avenue, will take place from Monday, August 15 to Wednesday, August 17, from 1pm to 3pm, with the Play Development Team. Open access for five to 11-year-olds.
