THE Wildlife Trust will be holding nature walks around the East Aberthaw nature reserve with the first one taking place on April 20.

The nature reserve is location on the east side of Aberthaw Power Station and will be hold walks throughout the year on the third Monday of May, June, July and September to introduce residents and nature lovers to the wonders of the sites unique ecology.

Each walk will provide a different opportunity of spotting some of the diverse species that can be found at the reserve. The first walk will be looking for migrant birds, early flowering plants and insects.

The walks are supported by RWE’s Aberthaw Power Station, who owns the land that contains the saline lagoon, one of only four in Wales. The station also helps to carefully manage the area to encourage and maintain the biodiversity of habitats, flora and fauna.

Richard Little, station manager from Aberthaw Power Station said, “We are proud to welcome the Wildlife Trust to lead the nature walks around East Aberthaw nature reserve and would encourage local residents to come along and enjoy this unique environment on their doorstep.”

All are welcome to attend and the meeting place is at the bottom of Well Road.

Every level of interest is catered for, whatever your age, you can come along to spot, photograph, ramble, amble or inquire.
