FAMILIES and children are all warmly invited to the annual ‘Carols by Candlelight’ on the afternoon of Christmas Eve at the Church of Merthyr Dyfan, in Merthyr Dyfan Lane, Colcot, Barry.

The afternoon begins at 2.30pm and will last around one hour, this will be an opportunity, particularly for children, to experience the true spirit of Christmas in the beautiful setting of this ancient church. The church is one of the oldest Christian sites in Wales believed to date from around the year 600AD.

Father Robert Parish will lead the service, and the organist will be Barry-born Father Brian Taylor. Admission is free.

Pedestrian access to the church is by the path that begins at the side of the Barry cemetery gates, cars can drive down Merthyr Dyfan Lane, access is from Port Road, and there is free car parking at the church.

There will be a special welcome to all people who live on the Colcot estate, many who may never have visited their ‘own’ church.

On Christmas morning Carols and Sung Mass are at Merthyr Dyfan Church at 8.45am.
