WALES’ Six Nations hopes have suffered another injury hammer blow with scrum-half Rhys Webb released from the squad.
The 29-year-old Ospreys scrum-half has suffered a knee injury that will restrict his involvement in the campaign.
The Lions ace will undergo more scans and assessments to determine the best course of action with uncapped Cardiff Blues scrum-half Tomos Williams, an unused substitute in the summer Test in Samoa, named as his replacement.
The injury means that Webb may well have played his last game for his country as he is moving to Toulon next season and doesn’t have the required 60 caps to still be eligible for Wales selection.
Scarlets scrum-half Gareth Davies is now likely to wear 9 on his back in the Six Nations opener against Scotland with clubmate Aled Davies his back-up.
Wales are already without full-back/wing Liam Williams, centre Jonathan Davies, fly-half Dan Biggar, number eight Taulupe Faletau, flankers Sam Warburton and Dan Lydiate and lock Jack Ball.
