NEWPORT Gwent Dragons duo Hallam Amos and Tyler Morgan have been named in the Wales squad for the autumn internationals along with former teammate Taulupe Faletau, despite fears over the number eight’s fitness.

Amos is included for the November dates with Australia, Argentina, Japan and South Africa in Cardiff after starting all three Tests against New Zealand on the wing last summer while centre Morgan backs up Jamie Roberts, Scott Williams and Jonathan Davies.

Faletau has been included despite the knee injury he suffered on Bath debut that is expected to rule him out until the end of November.

The back row forward is one of three wildcard picks along with Roberts and wing George North after being captured by ‘Gatland’s Law’.

That means fly-half Rhys Priestland misses out with uncapped in-form Ospreys playmaker Sam Davies getting a call-up.

Alex Cuthbert, Leigh Halfpenny and Dan Lydiate return to the squad after missing the All Blacks tour through injury while Cardiff Blues props Rhys Gill and Scott Andrews return along with Ospreys loosehead Nicky Smith and number eight Dan Baker.

“It is great to give the opportunity to players who are playing well for their clubs with the likes of Nicky Smith, Rhys Gill, Rory Thornton and Sam Davies coming into the squad,” said Rob Howley, who is at the helm while Lions coach Rob Howley is on a sabbatical.

“In addition it’s great to be able to welcome back experienced players such as Dan Lydiate, Alex Cuthbert and Leigh Halfpenny, who have missed out recently with injury and that experience will be important this autumn.

“Taulupe is still in his rehab process and has been working closely with Bath.  We hope he will be available in the later part of the campaign, but his experience will be vitally important to have around the squad.

“We know we have to start the campaign strong and have to replicate the accuracy and intensity our opponents will bring to Cardiff.  We need to build on what we did in New Zealand and take it up another level for that opening match against Australia.”
