THE Welsh Rugby Union have announced the players that will be captured by ‘Gatland’s Law’ with Bath’s Rhys Priestland likely to be the high-profile victim.

The Senior Player Selection Policy will be applied for the first time this season with the Wales bosss – Rob Howley while Warren Gatland is on Lions duty – able to pick three wildcard selections.

Seven players are captured – number eight Taulupe Faletau, wing George North, centre Jamie Roberts, fly-half Priestland, lock Dom Day, prop Nicky Thomas and scrum-half Rhodri Williams.

Former Newport Gwent Dragons lock Luke Charteris, now with Bath after spells with Perpignan and Racing 92, is available for selection.

With Faletau, North and Roberts being key figures and Priestland primarily acting as back-up to Dan Biggar, it is likely the Bath half-back will miss out this autumn.

That would leave Cardiff Blues’ Gareth Anscombe, the Ospreys’ Sam Davies and the Scarlets’ Rhys Patchell battling to be the reserve fly-half.
