JOE ALLEN hailed the role of Wales’ fans on the road to Euro 2016, insisting the squad are ready to deal with England and the rest this summer in France, writes Michael Pearlman.

Wales will be heading to their first major tournament in 58-years at the European Championships, and there will be no inferiority complex from the Wales players, especially with their fans backing them to the hilt.

“It was good to have this game to enjoy in front of a home crowd and to twin it with a win was extra special,” Allen reflected after Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Andorra.

“It was a cause for celebration on the podium. We wanted to make sure we did celebrate as it is a big achievement for us and we have worked really hard to get there.

“Now we set our targets (for the finals). Our only focus was to ensure qualification. And now we have done that we will look to take the next step. We look forward to show what we can do in France.”

Allen admits he’s expecting to hear plenty from his England teammates back at club side Liverpool.

“It is great to be able to be there with them (the English players). We used to just watching them set off and get on with it. So it is great to have a chance to be there as well. I am sure we will enjoy a bit of banter when I get back.”

And if Wales draw England? “It is a game that everyone would look forward to,” Allen admitted.

“They have won 10 out of 10 so have had a fantastic qualifying campaign. They are obviously in great form so they are the type of team you want to test yourself against.”

Gareth Bale is hopeful Wales can continue to make qualification the norm, rather than an exception.

“This is just the start for us. We know that. We have got a team that has been together for a long time and we have finally produced,” he said.

"We will get a taste of that in the summer and I'm sure that will make us thirsty for more."
