FORMER Newport County midfielder Lee Evans could be in line to make his senior international bow next month after Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey was ruled out of Wales’ Euro 2016 double-header.

The midfielder hobbled out of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham at the weekend and specialists have assessed Ramsey’s hamstring injury will sideline him for six weeks

That means he has no chance of returning for Wales’ home clashes with Bosnia and Cyprus next week.

However, Ramsey’s misfortune could prove good news for Evans with the 20-year old going from strength to strength.

He’s already played 35 games for Wolves since moving in January 2012 and is in rich form, scoring in Sunday’s 3-3 draw at Reading as Wolves moved a step closer to the top of the Championship.

Evans also scored in both of Wales U21s last two fixtures as he pushes himself further up the queue to deputise for Ramsey with Liverpool’s Joe Allen also struggling to be fit for the Dragons.

Evans signed a new contract with Wolves earlier this month, keeping him at Molineux until at least 2017.

"I'm delighted to have signed the new deal. I see it as the next stepping stone in my career," he said.

"I know sometimes people think that players get a new contract and start to relax - that's not what I am going to be doing.

"I want to kick on now, keep improving and trying to keep my place in the team,” he told the club website.”

Chris Coleman is also without striker Sam Vokes for the crucial contests, though Burnley boss Sean Dyche has revealed the 24-year old is recovering well from a cruciate ligament injury.

“Sam is making really good progress and has had some good news this week,” he said.

“The specialist is absolutely delighted with it, and so are we. Sam is back out on the grass and that is a bonus.

“The injury is taking time, but it’s the allotted time and he’s on a really nice run at the minute, which we’re happy with.”
