WALES' opening Euro 2016 qualifier next Tuesday will go ahead on Andorra's 3G pitch.

The surface was subject to close inspection by UEFA officials, but a Football Association of Wales spokesman confirmed during a player media session this afternoon that the pitch had been given the green light.

Wales chiefs have confirmed, however, the squad have no plans to train on a 3G pitch ahead of the game.

The artificial pitch at the 3,300 capacity venue initially failed a test to ensure balls do not roll too quickly, sparking fears the game may have to be moved to Barcelona despite fans already making travel

A spokesman said: “The FAW would like to thank all the supporters making the journey to Andorra next weekend for their patience regarding this matter."

Wales will look to begin their qualifying campaign in flying fashion, especially given the presence of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey in manager Chris Coleman's squad.
