LLANTWIT MAJOR 0 WATERFRONT WANDERERS 1

THE WANDERERS went into this game knowing only a win would do if they wanted to keep their challenge going.

With the team unchanged, all the players knew exactly what needed to be done, and a good warm-up, okie cokie and positive talk got all the Wanderers up for the game.

The game started well and it was clear that Kyle and TJ’s pace was going to have a big impact on the game.

The Wanderers had a chance to take the lead early on when the referee awarded a penalty against a Llantwit defender, but Hammill struck the post. He and Nathan Williams battled for the full 90 to make up for the miss.

The game went on and the physical battle was starting to get intense, but the pace of the front two took its toll when the were 2 on 2 with the Llantwit defence and TJ’s pinpoint cross was met by a Kyle header to give them the lead.

The battle continued for the rest of the half but the Wanderers were coping well and went in 1-0 to the good. The half time talk was simple - defensive concentration was the key to getting the result they were after.

Wanderers were playing the big pitch well and their manager made an early change in the second half to get some fresh legs on with Evans replacing Parrish on the left. His impact was immediate with Waterfront having a few good chances.

The second change was made with 30 minutes remaining with Colburn making way for debutant Karl Steel.

Huw was making some excellent blocks and collections of the ball to keep his side in the lead.

Steel had a chance blocked on the line late on so missed out on a debut goal. The whole team was putting their bodies on the line to keep Llantwit out with the back four of Govier, Brody, Jones and C Caton being solid once again and the referee's whistle went to give the Wanderers a very hard earned 3 points.

Thanks to Llantwit for a good game to watch and ref Paul Bright for his excellent control of a spirited encounter. Also the supporters who made the long trip and the Bassett for the once again excellent food.

Wanderers man of the match was Connor Caton.
