SP CONSTRUCTION 1 PARK VILLA 4

BOTH teams started brightly but Park had the better of the play, with Jeff White acting as a holding striker and Lee Parrish causing problems winning any loose balls in and around the SP box.

Park were never going to win the aerial battle in the middle against a tall SP midfield, but Austin White and Nick 'Gattuso' Stephenson made sure they won every second ball for Park and gave SP nothing.

Fifteen minutes in Park were awarded a penalty when the under pressure defender handled and Jeff White coolly finished to make it 1-0.

This fired SP up, some strong challenges were being exchanged, and they did create a few half chances, but Park stayed strong and went in at half time still leading.

The second half didn't disappoint. Again Park started strongly and were playing some attractive football. Gilo and Ben Stephenson were peppering the SP box with crosses with Jeff White and Lee Parrish trying to get on the end of them.

Park increased their lead when Nick Stephenson hit a belter just inside the SP half but almost immediately SP pulled one back when a ball over the top was well finished by the striker.

This gave SP a new confidence and they started to pile the pressure on the Park defence, but centre backs Tony Barnett and Paul Averies won everything, sticking tight to their men, along with Richard White and Scott Giles keeping their wingers at bay and the immense Barrie Niblett pulling off a series of outstanding saves.

SP could have equalised when a penalty was awarded to them, but yet again Barrie Niblett pulled off a brilliant save. After 15 minutes of pressure Park got a grip of the game again and started pinging the ball round and creating chances.

Eventually they got their reward when a looping ball from Richard White found Lee Parrish who calmly finished to make it 3-1.

Park were now in complete control and scored the goal of the game. Gilo showed a magical bit of skill out on the left, then a cross field ball found Ben Stephenson whose first touch was good but his second touch sublime with a 30-yard screamer making the final score 4-1 to Park Villa.
