IN YET another first for The Sea View (Barry) RFC, Captain and founder Leon Ford has been selected to play international rugby for Greece.
Leon, who qualifies to play for Greece through his grandfather on his mother's side, caught the attention of the Greek selectors with his rampaging back-row play, and was asked to attend a selection weekend in Greece, at the end of which he was selected for the squad to play in their upcoming world cup qualifying matches. If Greece are successful we could see Leon running out against England or New Zealand in the 2011 World Cup!
It's been a remarkable 18 months for Leon; he's founded a rugby club, scored their first try, become their first international, and most importantly become a father to a beautiful baby girl.
Our congratulations to Leon and his wife Becky on the birth of their daughter Seren.
The View would like to thank Leon for all his hard work in setting up the club, and a massive thanks to Becky for putting up with us all.
