Cadoxton v Dinas Powis – Munro Cup (Home)

THE weather was reasonable for Cadoxton’s Munro Cup meeting with Dinas Powis.

Derek Jeffries struggled at the start and trailed 7-1, before a comeback started on the eighth end. A ‘5’ on the tenth took the lead at 10-7.

This success was held until the end with only 3 further losses during the remainder of the game.

Kelvin Chedgzoy’s rink started with three losing singles, but a ‘4’ took them into the lead. In a close game the score reached 9-9 after eleven ends.

The opponents, skippered by Gerry White then increased their score to 13 but failed to improve on it, and four singles brought a level final score.

Don Kuhnell skipped his rink to an early 5-1 advantage.

However the opposition lengthened the jack and the results changed in favour of them.

Only one further end during the next 11 ends went to the home side although the losing ends were kept mainly to singles which prevented counts on many occasions.

Three shots during the final ends reduced the deficit.

The rink skipped by Howard Craven’s rink never managed to get started. A ‘3’ on the third was the only success during the first eight ends , leaving them 14-3 behind.

Five shots scored in the following two ends brought some hope, but only one further success during the remaining ends, left them well down at the finish.
