YMCA Barry gymnasts Josh Cook and Iwan Mepham have been announced as part of the squad set to represent Wales at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Australia.

The pair have gone through a number of trials across Britain over the past 12 months, as they attempted to record the qualifying scores necessary to compete in next month's games.

Cook and Mepham competed in their final Commonwealth Games trial in February during the Welsh Championships, which took place in Cardiff.

All male gymnasts on the Commonwealth long list competed over two days, with both going on to excel in their respective events.

Cook claimed the Welsh High Bar and Parallel Bar titles on day one of the event, also becoming Overall Senior Welsh Champion. Mepham was crowned Welsh Rings Champion, and also won the Parallel Bar event on day two.

YMCA Barry Gymnastics Club would like to congratulate the duo on their success, as well as their coach, Pete Haysham, who will also be travelling to Australia along with the rest of Team Wales at the end of this month.

YMCA Barry offers gymnastics classes to all ages and abilities from babies to adults. The club also offers elite gymnastics in female and male artistic gymnastics, as well as recreational classes in preschool gymnastics, female gymnastics, male gymnastics and cheerleading.
