WITCHILL Wildcats came back from the brink to earn an impressive win over Billy United in their top of the table clash last week, sealing a sudden death victory after trailing throughout.

The night started well for The Billy who ended the first round of singles with a 3-1 lead, thanks to wins for Gary Roberts, Ian Roberts and John Farrugia.

The first set of doubles were shared, with Wildcats' pair Ceri Morris and James Hill winning their frame before The Billy's Farrugia and Les Ashton restored the two game lead, but when the second set of singles ended all square The Billy looked a sure bet to grab the win.

Leading 6-4 going into the doubles, Steve Watkins and Morris, followed by Hill and Chris Bardsley, played sublimely to take the match into a sudden death black ball shoot-out, before Morris sealed the bonus point win for the Wildcats.

The Dark Lords extended their lead at the top of the table to 10 points with a crushing 11-1 win over Finnegan's at The Castle.

The visitors performed better than the final score suggested, but there were nonetheless strong performances from Matt Tobin, Gareth Foxall and Gavin Rowlands who all ended the night unbeaten. Finnegan's late consolation came from Harry Asprou and Carson Martin in the final frame.

The Good, The Bad and The Ship entertained O'Brien's, nicking a 7-5 win in a tight encounter.

Captain Graham Avaient won three from four frames to put the hosts in a strong position as they went on to claim a valuable win.

The King William IV of Cadoxton picked up an 8-4 win away to the Baruc Arms.

Having taken a 5-1 lead by the halfway point, the second half was more even with Gavin Stevens and Calum Petty picking up frames for the Baruc Arms, but by that point it was too late and the King William IV ran out comfortable winners.
